Jerner & Palmer, P.C. charges both flat fees and hourly fees for services, depending upon the type of case. Fees may vary depending on the complexity of the case. Expenses such as court filing fees, expert fees, deposition costs, postage and photocopying are not included in the attorney fees. On occasion, the firm may require that experts be retained directly by the client.
We put all fee agreements in writing. Representation does not begin until a fee agreement detailing attorney fees and the scope of work is signed by both the client and a Jerner & Palmer, P.C. attorney and the appropriate fee or retainer is paid. You will receive a fee agreement if, after meeting with an attorney at a consultation appointment, you decide you would like to work with Jerner & Palmer, P.C.
We accept cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard. Jerner & Palmer, P.C. periodically reviews its hourly rates and may change rates upon thirty (30) days notice to clients who have retained the firm.
Flat Fee Cases
Some cases are billed on a flat fee basis. This means that you pay a set amount for attorney fees, regardless of how much attorney time is involved in your representation. Jerner & Palmer, P.C. charges flat fees for the following types of cases:

For these types of cases, the amount of time required to complete a case varies based upon the specific facts of your situation. The attorney you meet with at your consultation appointment will discuss with you the specific facts of your situation and set an appropriate retainer fee. A retainer fee is an estimate of the minimum amount of time it will take to represent you in a case. Retainer fees are placed in an attorney escrow account.
Hourly rate cases are billed according to the following rates* as of June 2007:
| Rate Per Hour | Services of |
| $250.00 | Partner |
| $175.00 | Associate |
| $75.00 | Paralegal |
All attorney and paralegal services are billed in one-tenth of an hour increments.
Jerner & Palmer, P.C. will send you itemized bills periodically, which may include a request for advance funds to replenish your escrow account. In the event that your escrow account balance falls below a set amount, you will be asked to replenish your escrow account. If, at the conclusion of services, the total amount incurred for costs and legal services is less than the total amount of all deposits, the difference will be refunded to you.
